What it checks
SCuBA GWS.GMAIL.17.1: comprehensive mail storage keeps a copy of every message associated with a user's account, including messages sent from non-Gmail Workspace applications, so an investigation can reconstruct what was sent. Without it, mail generated outside Gmail is absent from the record and a search returns a partial answer that looks complete. Reads gmail.comprehensive_mail_storage and warns where enabled is not true.
Recommended value
Comprehensive mail storage enabled for all users
Remediation
Admin console > Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Compliance > Comprehensive mail storage. Enable it so all messages associated with a user are stored and retrievable.
